We have used Adrian’s services for two seperate jobs and both times we have been extremely happy with the results. He was great to deal with and his knowledge and advice were greatly appreciated. Without doubt we will use his expertise and craftsmanship in the future when the need arises.

We asked Adrian to give us a quote to replace a rotting timber porch with one of Jarrah for our California Bungalow house. Right from the first few minutes of meeting him I felt at ease with him and was confident with the price and, more importantly, his integrity.

After finishing laying all the flooring Adrian suggested that he delay fixing the quad trim so that I could oil the deck and paint the trim, to ensure a better/neater finish, and that he would come back and fix the trimming when I was ready. Unlike an earlier experience I had when paying before full completion of a job, Adrian was true to his word and did return.

The finished job is much better than we had anticipated, reflecting the skill and attention to detail of his workmanship and confirming we had made the right choice in asking Adrian to redo our porch.

Adrian O’Brien is a master of his craft. We engaged him to restore and re-build the exterior of our 1860s single-fronted cottage in Fitzroy North – the job included the installation of block-pattern and straight-edge weather-boards (and insulation) as well as the demolition of an existing verandah to be replaced by a complete overhaul of the existing structure. As we are bound by the guidelines of a Heritage Overlay, and also had guidance from Heritage Victoria throughout the approval process, the job required historic sensitivity and an ability to replicate techniques not commonly used by less experienced carpenters. Adrian had a lateral and efficient approach to problem-solving, did his research on the era of construction and was a great communicator from first contact until completion of the project. The quote was prompt, the cost was competitive and Adrian’s dedication and energy were commendable. We brought our first child home during construction, and needless to say were pretty stressed at times, however the process was as smooth as anyone could expect and we’re ecstatic with the result. We’d highly recommend Adrian O’Brien’s services, we’ve recommended him to our family and friends, and will not hesitate to engage him for further work. And, he’s not a bad bloke!

From the moment Adrian came to see us, we could tell by his considerate manner that he would be someone who takes pride in his work. Our requirements were lots of small jobs; replacing barge boards, fixing our Dutch Gables, replacing architraves, repairing weather boards and rebuilding our front porch.
